It was around last year that I first heard about Weleda Skin Food. I was browsing through one of my favorite Instagram blogger’s stories as she was reviewing her favorite skin care products.
Fast forward to just a few weeks ago, I was watching a YouTube video of a dermatologist sharing her everyday routine who mentioned that she uses Weleda Skin Food.
I took this as a sign and purchased the Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream at Whole Foods for $18.99 the next day. Let me tell you; I’m so happy that I did.
Weleda Skin Food: What is it?
Weleda Skin Food is a thick, rich moisturizer that caters to soothing and hydrating rough and dry skin.
It is instructed that you apply this moisturizer to areas that are prone to getting really dry such as your elbows, heels, knees, etc. However, applying this cream to your face alone can result in luminous, radiant results.
Something that I appreciate about this product/brand is that Weleda is cruelty-free.
Recently, I’ve been trying to incorporate more cruelty-free products into my skin care collection, and while I’m still working on getting there, this product is an addition that I’m very satisfied with.
Weleda Skin Food is full of plant-rich ingredients. To name a few, this product has Chamomile, Calendula (Pot marigold) and Viola Tricolor (Wild pansy) extracts in them which I give credit to for this product’s lovely, fresh scent.
Weleda Skin Food: My Review
My first impression while reviewing this moisturizer is that the texture is thick. Thick as in similar-to-vaseline thick.
If you are someone with very oily skin, this product may not sit entirely well with you, however, once you really take your time to rub the product into your skin, I promise it absorbs so nicely.
It will probably take a few days for you to get used to how this product feels on your skin, but you will get used to the texture in no time.
While I’ve applied this moisturizer on some days in both the morning and night, I’ve come to prefer applying this product during my night time skin care routine more.
Similar to an overnight mask, I find that when I wake up, my skin looks incredibly hydrated, dewy and plump when I use this product at night whereas during the day, my skin retains a bit of an oily residue (nothing too crazy, though!).
This product is 2.5 fl. Oz., yet a little bit of product goes such a long way making this something that will most likely last you for a good amount of time.
What are Some Uses of Weleda Skin Food?
I enjoy how versatile skin food is mainly due to the fact that it can be used in so many different ways. It can be used as moisturizer for the face and body, a primer for your makeup, highlighter, a mask and more.
I’ve been using this for around a week now and have no complaints or problems with it. My nose tends to get dry and flaky to the point where it can be difficult to apply makeup around the area, but the day after I used this for the first time, the flakiness and dryness was nearly gone.
If you are someone who has relatively dry skin, I would highly recommend trying this product out!
